I'm a traditionally and self published author. I write in the genre of children and YA at the moment but working my way up to adults. I'm a sports loving, photo taking gal who loves to sing/dance to my own enjoyment. I love to laugh even at myself. I am also owned by 8 birds and 2 hamsters, and yes they know it. :)

Virus from hell

Nothing like having a virus attack you without warning. It will stop you, cold. That’s what happened to me last Thursday evening. In the process I lost 11 pounds in six days. Something I didn’t think was possible if the doctor had not weighed me.

There was little I could do but suffer through and deal with it. When the doctor said, “You could let it run its course or take the medication,” I without a shadow of a doubt knew what I was going to do. At this junction I only been sick two and a half days meaning I still had four and a half days to let it run its course.

That wasn’t happening. I took the medication. This virus gave me:

-lost of appetite

-my sides cramping up

-blurry vision

-inability to sleep

-chills hot and cold that came on without warning

-nausea

-dizziniess

-weakness

They all fought together as a well oil machine and attacked my body with a tremendous force. We don’t have a name for this virus but I do know what to look for next time it comes around. I seriously hope nobody gets this. It is not fun, it is not easy and it will drain you until you have nothing else. I least there is some good on the horizon for my son told me,”Wow, you no longer look like your dying.”

I think that says it all.

Writers Mingling

pansiesa

This weekend is our 2nd annual Writer’s Conference. Last year was such a hoot but it was only one day. With it being so successful funds were found to increase that to two days..

I will be volunteering again with the registration table. It should be loads of fun as writers descend upon the library to learn, talk and mingle with other like-minded people. It’s a free event, woot, all one had to do was register. But it helps knowing the coordinator for I was added immediately.

At my house my family will listen to me talk about writing in various forms and will for the most part try to not appear bored. This weekend they get a break from all of that.

The weekend kicks off tonight as I head to an open mic event at a local coffee shop. Nervous, excited and again nervous. But it should be good practice.

NaNoWriMo 2014

crest-bda7b7a6e1b57bb9fb8ce9772b8faafbIt is that lovely time of the year for NaNoWriMo 2014. I started doing NaNo in 2011 and since have won three straight years. I never really plan to do this month-long frenzy. I tend to decide the last week if I am going to do it.

This year is a bit different. The first six days of the month will be hectic with events where my writing is concern. Normally by day 15 I am done NaNo and I can breathe but this time around that won’t be the case.

I still have my three books I wrote for NaNo needing edits. In fact I am working on the one from 2013 which is entitled “Lost Faith” which is slowing me down. So I asked myself, “Do I really need to write another novel just so I can toss it on a stack of books that need to be edited?”

I’m not sure. The draw of NaNo once you do it is addicting. For me to attempt it and not win is not a thought that enters my brain, I do it to win. Plain and simple. What I did was list 50 topics for 50 possible chapters for a new book that I plan on writing when time permits. I will decide by Wednesday or Thursday if I will enter. Good luck to those who enter.
