Getting back into the swing of writing

How often do you check your books online to see ratings or read comments? I used to do it regularly, but over time, it became something I did only when I remembered.

When I checked Amazon, I was thrilled to discover that my book, Jasper, Amazon Parrot: A Rainforest Adventure, now has over 100 reviews. Jasper and I are flying higher than ever!

I know it took some time to reach this milestone, but I intend to savor it. There are those who enjoy the book and don’t leave a review for various reasons. That could be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on your perspective.

Every time something positive happens with my books, it just confirms that this is what I should be doing: writing. It brings joy that is hard to contain, well, for me anyway.

It has been a long journey for me with my writing, but the newness of it when I start a new WIP is still there with me, and may that never change.

The self-imposed deadlines to the actual deadlines, the endless editing, which is one of my least favorite things to do, the going over book covers, and so much more. There is a lot to do when you are an author, no matter how many pages or genres. We birth it and watch it unfold and grow, if you are fortunate.

Not everyone is a success, and not every book gets out for people to read. Just another part of the process.

I am back to updating my blog, working with my social media platforms, and reviewing edits for the second volume of my Squirrel Mafia book. Recently, a fan asked if I had started on volume five of my children’s series, the Jasper, Amazon parrot series. That question caused me to pause to consider my next steps.

But having a fan reach out to ask was such a great feeling. It made my day.

Back in the saddle again, I am ready to go once I decide on what project to work on.

A conversation with my current WIP

2014-04-28 11.52.25

After a few months of not writing due to life and obligations I finally was able to get to my WIP. This is the conversation we had.

Me: Well hello Lost Faith, guess who’s ready to get back to work?
LF: Who are you?
Me: Oh come on now it has not been that long. I had things that had to be done and family to help.
LF: I know I know. But it wouldn’t have hurt to stop and say hi. Heck you walked by me for the past two months with not even a howdy do.
Me: My bad. I’m sorry. That was wrong. But I am back now for us to work together again.
LF: I understand. Family is family. So where will we start?
Me: I’m not sure, there are so many places I need to fix and figure out.
LF: Well you need to add more dialogue to me, fix the loop holes, describe better the location and…. wait I know where!
Me: Where?
LF: The killing of one of the main characters. You’re still gonna do that, right? Start there. It will be so much fun it will be your first time. I decree we start there.
Me:
Oh you decree?
LF: Yes.
Me: I will get to that I promise but I need to bulk some areas up. You know you are going to be a trilogy.
LF: Hooray for Hollywood lalalalalala Hollywood. Yes you need to do that, I will look awesome on the big screen. Awesome I tell you.
Me: Yes you will.
LF: And Sharon? I really missed you.
Me: I missed you as well. Let’s get started.

My current WIP is a sassy thing. But I do love her.

My latest interview

I had the honor of being interviewed this month by the lovely Dante Craddock. I appreciate you taking the time and effort it took to get the questions out to me and working with the answers that were given.

The questions made me sit back and think on how to answer to the best of my ability and also how to make me shine. Being interviewed is no small task. It takes a lot of time and effort for the interviewer and the one being interviewed. Dante did a marvelous job
