Commas are my Kryptonite,” I said to my friend Gina one day. She laughed because she understood what that meant. She is of the thinking you can’t have to many as she places commas in excessive even when there is no need for them to be there. I am of the theory in the less the better, often leaving out spots where I should place a comma
I hate commas. They serve their purpose, one of which is to irritate me when I don’t get it right in placement. But that is why I have an editor. She is worth her weight in gold and then some. Which is awesome for me , the commaless person who couldn’t be bothered to learn where to put them.
What else is my Kryptonite now that I am thinking on it? I have issues with a-than vs then b-to vs too and c- effect vs affect.
Though in fairness to me I am getting better with the two first ones. See even I can learn. I am sure there are others that I am just not thinking off at the moment. Writing. Thanks to my editor, I can stick to writing.
Me: Well hello Lost Faith, guess who’s ready to get back to work?
LF: Who are you?
Me: Oh come on now it has not been that long. I had things that had to be done and family to help.
LF: I know I know. But it wouldn’t have hurt to stop and say hi. Heck you walked by me for the past two months with not even a howdy do.
Me: My bad. I’m sorry. That was wrong. But I am back now for us to work together again.
LF: I understand. Family is family. So where will we start?
Me: I’m not sure, there are so many places I need to fix and figure out.
LF: Well you need to add more dialogue to me, fix the loop holes, describe better the location and…. wait I know where!
Me: Where?
LF: The killing of one of the main characters. You’re still gonna do that, right? Start there. It will be so much fun it will be your first time. I decree we start there.
Me:Oh you decree?
LF: Yes.
Me: I will get to that I promise but I need to bulk some areas up. You know you are going to be a trilogy.
LF: Hooray for Hollywood lalalalalala Hollywood. Yes you need to do that, I will look awesome on the big screen. Awesome I tell you.
Me: Yes you will.
LF: And Sharon? I really missed you.
Me: I missed you as well. Let’s get started.
My current WIP is a sassy thing. But I do love her.
I found out in March I sold an ebook in Japan. That makes three, maybe four, so far. I am starting to know what David Hassolhoff feels like when he is in Germany. LOL. I have no clue how people in this far away land are hearing about me. I know people who have been to and have lived in Japan but they are now back in the US. It doesn’t matter, not really. But I am curious what marketing tool I am using or doing that is working in the Land of the Rising Sun. For I would definitely be doing more of it.
Checking my stats I have sales in Egypt, Japan, England, Spain, New Zealand and the good old United States. That is definitely a pretty good feeling.
