Interviews

I been fortunate to have been interviewed a few times online. At first it was scary for I wanted to get it just right and showcase myself decently. Now it is getting just fun to do. Especially when the interviewer gives me questions that I need to step back and think on. I love those times. One thing I make sure I don’t forget is to send it to my editor. I want it as polished as possible. The lovely interviewer created the picture above for the occasion for the interview I just did. It’s at http://achapterintime.webs.com/face-to-face.

Every bit helps, regardless of the size of the site that is doing the interview. I had one person apologize for that. They were told there was no need. If I just reach a new person then it is worth it. You never know what that one person can lead to.

I have two on my plate, two set of questions that need my attention that I will be working on soon. A few more places for my book to shine. So I say thanks to the people who have asked me. Jasper and I get to fly and soar with each question that is asked. We thank you and we thank you.

Marketing: Small Places

P12-13-13_20.14

When you’re starting out as an author the idea of marketing yourself, whether you are self published or traditionally published, can get a bit scary. One has to think of anything that can help. A local theater in town is now hosting local writers in their lobby. All that is required is a few copies of one’s book and a framed picture. Fortunately I knew one of the actress who is also a fellow author. I was able to showcase my book for a few weeks to the patrons of the arts.

This is a different avenue and one that would never have come across my desk if I didn’t know my friend. But it just shows to think outside the box and don’t strictly go with conventional marketing. Every piece that can give the opportunity to show your works should be considered, even the ones that you have not thought of yet.

NaNoWriMo 2013: Finished 11/14/13

I have finished NaNoWriMo 2013, the date November 14th.  While I am extremely happy about this, two things need to be said. One is I wrote the words required to win but I am not claiming they are good words. Another thing is the book is not done. I need, in my mind, to add at least another 10-20k to make this book complete. So as the rest of the month winds down I will be adding but at a slower pace. I am proud of myself. When I started NaNo in 2011 for the first time I did not plan it. I decided two days before I was going to do it. That was a mistake due to my health. But it was a well earned win.

As I stand this is what I have:

NaNoWriMo

2011:The book written was called “A Woman of Color” which is a true story of racism.

2012: The book written was called “Moe’s Cafe” which had it’s origin from a writing prompt. The genre is action, adventure and a hit of the mob.

2013:The book written was called “Lost Faith” which fit the genre of YA, religious and drama. It stems from an apocalyptic world where faith is no longer recognized.

I can honestly say all three works were a joy to write. I love them for their individuality. But where do I stand now? They are all in various stages of editing and revision. A chore I hate and dread with ever fiber of my being. But it is time I get it done so I can start submitting them.

So I shut the door to NaNoWriMo 2013. It has been fun but man am I glad it is over.
