Minions

Is there a movie out there that you could watch repeatedly? The jokes don’t get old? No matter if you know the next scene about to come but instead you are waiting for it so you can just laugh out loud? My latest love is “Despicable Me”. I can not even begin to count how many times I have seen this movie. The fact that it was In Demand on my cable was bad enough but now my son owns a copy. He had seen it so many times through me he is in love with it as I am.  It is good clean fun and no matter what part of the movie is playing, if I am walking by the couch will have a new buddy. I will be honest this movie was not watched when it first came out. But now that it has entered my life, last six months, it gets watched daily.

Now that might seem excessive to watch the same movie every single day. Well there’s a catch. Our birdie Jasper, the one pictured on this blog, has fallen in love with the yellow minions from the movie. My son and I both agree they make this film work. Jasper will slide down the rail, onto the couch and get comfortable in front of the tv so he can watch his movie. Please don’t walk in front of him. And whatever you do, DO NOT SIT DOWN IN FRONT OF HIM. Oh my gosh talk about a bird who will have a hissy fit.

This is a picture of him getting riled up when I walked in front of him while he was watching the movie. He ruffled his feathers to hurry me along.

This is when I was talking to him during the movie. He totally ignored me in hopes I would shut up so he could get back to the show.

Jasper absolutely loves this movie. In fact as I type up this blog he is situated at the corner of the couch watching “Despicable Me”. He laughs at the same spots we do and at spots we don’t. It is comical to find out what he thinks is funny or not.

We have corrupted our green buddy and he likes it. They are making a sequel that comes out next summer. Hopefully the people in charge do it justice. I suspect if they do a copy will make its way home for my family to enjoy for a long time.

Until then the spot on the couch will get a little more worn out from where Jasper sits to watch this film.

P.S.

Other shows he likes to watch are:

SpongeBob SquarePants

Scooby- Doo- But not the ones with Scrabby-Doo. My bird is smart.

Hugs

I seen this video a few years ago and simply loved it. The song is from someone who to me was amazing. Even though we never met, his voice touched me deep inside.

A hug can bring a person up from the pits of despair, loneliness and sorrow. It builds one up and makes your heart smile on the inside. They are free and can say so much more than words do. It is easy and the results for me are amazing.

My son a few years back bought a shirt that had written on it “ Free Hugs” and wore it to school. Needless to say he got a lot of female hugging going on if ya know what I mean. 🙂 Some people are not huggers and that needs to be respected.

There are a variety of hugs.

-The one where two people barely touch as the exchange is done

-The one where the hug is so tight one has to come up for air

-The hug between two people who have not seen each other in years

-The hug between a child and their parent

-The one between a spouse greeting their loved ones after being away on tour, business and the likes.

Each vary in intensity, time and emotion. The faces may change but the emotion stays the same. An action that we as humans use to express ourselves without uttering a single word.

I love hugs.

My husband vs Valentine’s Day

My husband and I have been married a while- over 20 years. So when Valentine’s Day comes around I don’t expect flowers, candy, a card or the big woo. Odds are we have already celebrated it this past weekend to avoid the crowds on Tuesday.

If I get anything I am happy but being married and showing one’s love should not be celebrated just a few times a year on those special days: one’s anniversary, birthday and Valentine Day.

I don’t need the trinkets of a holiday that specializes in making the candy, greeting card and flower industry more wealthy. It is the little things that people might overlook

1-My husband dropping me off at the front of an establishment when my fibro is acting up

2-Buying me a king size candy bar of my favorite brand just because

3-Doing the dishes every morning before he goes to work

4-Watching my sports teams on tv with me even when he couldn’t care less who wins.

5-Getting me a Pepsi even though he knows I am not allowed but I crave it.

6-Not sharing my dessert at a restaurant knowing inside I don’t really want to share

7-Driving almost 3 hours one way to bring me to my doctor’s office

The list goes on. As a female I will admit the flowers and candy do make me go woohoo inside. But in the grand scheme of things I rather know that I am loved year round instead of just a few specific days the industry dictates.

While we ate our official Valentine’s Day meal on Sunday I will be treating him out today at lunch.

Update:

I found out today my husband is always a surprise to me. Sitting on my laptop this morning was a beautiful package, I almost hated to break the seal. Inside was a lovely card with a sentiment that made me pause. Inside that card was a Subway card for a few meals. He does know me well. 🙂

But inside that package was a beautiful hand-woven scarf and necklace. The picture does not do them justice. The girl in me squealed on the inside for the package and for having a husband who loves me. I know this with or without the gifts.
