Every writer tries to get the right hook for their book or short stories. This author nailed it on the first page. Pages fly as you want to know what happens on the other side. Getting this important part of the puzzle in writing a novel is not easy.
The main character of the story is Annie who is experiencing a post apocalyptic world. Just like the one we read and hear about in books and movies. It starts off with Annie making her way out into the chaos, destruction and ruins of her area while trying to find food for her hungry children. While it is dangerous to be out in the open her kids are starving and will die if food is not found.
The story was a quick read but in it the author managed to give out imagery that we could imagine in our head rather vividly. We felt Annie’s pain, frustration heartache as it fell of the page.
Only one complaint, I wanted to read more about Annie and was not ready for it to end when it did. But in hindsight it did finish at the right spot of the story.
The book for review is “ Real Marriage: The Truth About Sex, Friendship and Life Together” by Mark and Grace Driscoll.
Pastor Mark and his wife Grace share their experiences with their marriage as they talk about the ups and downs that plagued them. It is not a guide per say like other books that are in this genre. The couple takes us into the problems that married couples encounter along the way including their own.
Whether this is your predicament or not, you will find some useful information that can work for your personal life. It is not an in your face this is how it needs to be done read. The words are soothing and caring and delivered in a way that you are not offended by the advice offered by this couple.
Even if you feel this book is not for you overall, the questioned listed will make you think and evaluate where you stand with your spouse. It will make you step back and go hmm. That alone makes this book worth a look over, even if you don’t read the whole thing. I was not familiar with Pastor Mark before this book but would definitely read another by him.
It is now official in the sense that I am published. Two of my short stories are in the book that is shown above. It is a free download so feel free to check out the drop down menu entitled Published and snag a copy.
