I'm a traditionally and self published author. I write in the genre of children and YA at the moment but working my way up to adults. I'm a sports loving, photo taking gal who loves to sing/dance to my own enjoyment. I love to laugh even at myself. I am also owned by 8 birds and 2 hamsters, and yes they know it. :)

Good morning and welcome to this week’s edition of In the Books, featuring Jasper, Amazon Parrot: A Rainforest Adventure by Sharon C. Williams.

Disclaimer: I was given a free ebook copy in exchange for an honest review.

About the Book: Jasper learns the importance of family and friendship through a rainforest adventure.

My Review: It’s been a while since I’ve reviewed a children’s book, but I have to admit this reignited the child in me. I really enjoyed the innocence of Jasper and his brother Willie as they grew and explored the world around them.

One of my favorite parts was when they were learning to fly. I don’t want to give away too much, but I loved how the author showed their struggles in a humorous way that took away any edge I felt about them. The book carried an innocence similar to when I was a young boy…

Slowing down

I need to slow down. This year has gone by so fast with so many things popping up for me to do or try to do. But also I have been helping others whether it is reading their books to review, critiquing their edits and attending writer’s meetings to mingle. It takes a drain on you and your own writings and other levels. You have to put what needs to be done in perspective whether that includes your writings, your family, your life and your health.

My body reminded me or has been reminding me the last five to six weeks that I am chronically ill for health wise I have been in a lot of pain. I’m in pain daily, it just varies from day-to-day. These last few weeks it has been intensified with no signs of relief.

I need to pay attention to it and give it the same love that it has given me over the years. So I will be slowing down. While I love helping people, I need to start saying no. After all, people have no problems telling me know when I ask for help, maybe I need to take a page out of their page. But not only that but when I see a new project or venture I need to evaluate it and if so be it tell myself no as well.

I need to pace and time myself daily and stop feeling bad if I don’t do certain things. This is hard when you are raised Catholic, the guilt is automatic. I will finish the projects that are in my folder at the moment, sadly there are a lot, and hopefully not add anymore to it so I can get centered again for I have lost that.

It’s time to have fun again.

My books: iTunes

There are many avenues to have our books listed whether your format is print or ebook. You can have them online at Amazon, Barnes and Nobles, Smashwords to just name a few. If you are fortunate you have them in bookstores, whether that avenue is a large  bookstores or independent bookstores. You can have book signings at coffee shops, author greets and in giveaways. You can also have them in libraries if you are fortunately enough for the library to pick them up.

We have a lot of places to peddle our wares. It is not easy especially if you are an introvert.

My editor was working on a client’s work when she came across something that was fascinating. Well the news is not fascinating to her but what was on it was. iTunes. It is not just for music anymore but now for books also.

She found some of my books on the site. I was in WOOHOO mode. Seriously, this is an avenue I had not thought of and would not have thought off. How cool is this that our books can be now in this media for others to get?

I think it is pretty amazing and was thrilled to see for myself the listing.
