I'm a traditionally and self published author. I write in the genre of children and YA at the moment but working my way up to adults. I'm a sports loving, photo taking gal who loves to sing/dance to my own enjoyment. I love to laugh even at myself. I am also owned by 8 birds and 2 hamsters, and yes they know it. :)

Homemade Gifts for 2013

2013-12-22 14.43.13

This year for Christmas I made a number of gifts instead. It helped on cost and I personally love getting a homemade gift. The items for this year were slippers, two of my writings and a dessert I only make at Christmas time. My son calls it the Christmas dessert of death due to the sugar and calories in it.

The slippers tend to take me 2 ½ weeks to make if my hands are not hurting too much . The dessert is quick and easy, maybe 1 minute to put together and 10 minutes to cook. The writings well those as you all know takes much longer. Happily the gifts were received well and the people appreciated the effort. That was what it was all about. Making others happy at this time of year from something I made, and making the gifts a little extra special.

Merry Christmas every one. May the holidays be full of joy, peace and rest.

My First Dollar

2013-12-13 18.09.41The infamous first dollar earned from one’s business. It’s a monument of what one has accomplished. The hope is there will be more to come. When my first royalty check came in this was the first thing that came to mind. I have had the frame already, it was just waiting to be occupied. It now sits on my desk where I do my work.

I know I’m still small potatoes in the field of writing but like all things worth having , you have to start somewhere. But more importantly you have to start.

My first dollar as an author. I like the sound of that.

Today’s post is to showcase a group of writings doing a wonderful thing. I met Chris through a forum and we buddies every since. It was through her that I came to learn about the group.

THE PEACOCK WRITERS

We are a small group of writers who have banded together with one purpose in mind – to collate children’s stories & poems to donate to children’s charities.

Thanks to our wonderful team led by Paula Shene & Gwen D’Young & our contributing authors, we manage to publish two books each year. No two series are the same as each have their own common theme. Each one is available to but as Kindle edition, plain text or illustrated version.

I truly believe the following books will make a lovely present for children this Christmas:

A Whimsical Holiday http://www.amazon.com/Whimsical-Holiday-Children-Childrens-ebook/dp/B006MQ1A0K

Snowflakes on My Lashes http://www.amazon.com/Snowflakes-My-Lashes-Peacock-Presents/dp/1492749443
