Book release this Friday: Volume two to my children’s series

614cZIpFARL._SX311_BO1,204,203,200_In a few short days my second book to my children’s series comes out. This Friday to be more exact. It does not get old the excitement, the giddiness, the smiles that won’t leave one’s face just anticipating the actual release of a book. A book that took time and effort on your part that includes the edits, the critiquing from your writers group, the revisions, the choosing of illustrations and book cover to just name a few from a long list of things writers have to do for a book to be written.

The day comes close to the fruit of all your labor and to let’s face it everyone, the moment it is dropped, released to the public is very rewarding. As most writes know that is not the end of the story for there is a lot of work to be done after the book is published officially. But it does not take away from the happiness and sense of accomplishment one can feel inside.

So on October 9th my book, “Jasper Rainforest Friends and Family” will be made available to the public in all formats. We do use Smashwords so people can view it in pdf as well if they don’t have a tablet to read it in an e-book form. But the pre sale for the e-book is still going on. Until Friday that is you can get the e-book at half price and also get volume one at half price if you want to catch up.

Book release time is so exciting. To those who read this and have had this happen you get what I am saying. It is not just a Friday to me, it’s book release day which will make three books I have out.

Author Services: My client is going to be published

11817195_1698654523679438_3370435592056297867_nI started an author service last Fall. I was fortunate to get a client soon after. WOOHOO Since last August we have been meeting close to every Wednesday for three hours at a time. The goal was to get her manuscript in tip-top shape and to show her the technique to how I was able to get my first book finished and published by a traditional publisher.

Joanna has been a joy for she was diligent in learning what I had to teach her. A month ago her book was picked up for publication from a company out of Connecticut. Another WOOHOO moment. She just signed her contract and is ready to move forward as the pictures show above. I am very proud of her. Plus I am proud of myself for even though I only had one client, the end results were what we were hoping and shooting for.

I am batting 1 for 1 right now and it feels pretty darn good.

Commas are my Krptonite

Commas are my Kryptonite,” I said to my friend Gina one day. She laughed because she understood what that meant. She is of the thinking you can’t have to many as she places commas in excessive even when there is no need for them to be there. I am of the theory in the less the better, often leaving out spots where I should place a comma

I hate commas. They serve their purpose, one of which is to irritate me when I don’t get it right in placement. But that is why I have an editor. She is worth her weight in gold and then some. Which is awesome for me , the commaless person who couldn’t be bothered to learn where to put them.

What else is my Kryptonite now that I am thinking on it? I have issues with a-than vs then b-to vs too  and c- effect vs affect.

Though in fairness to me I am getting better with the two first ones. See even I can learn. I am sure there are others that I am just not thinking off at the moment. Writing. Thanks to my editor, I can stick to writing.
