Why blog?

2014-04-28 11.52.25

How hard is it to find blog content? And how often should you post per week? Plus, why blog in the first place?

First is content. Where do we find it? How do we come up with a topic and talk about it is something that everyone must figure out. Me personally I just look around where I am at, pay attention to conversations or will talk about something that is happening. Easy? Not always. One reason I am writing this post about blogs to be honest. My friend CP does a lot of reposting, sharing and hosting on his blog. That is a great way to help others and yourself at the same time and something I need to do more of.

Second is how often. That can be left up to interpretation of the writer. You don’t want to bore your audience, rather you want to keep them enjoying and engaging in what you talk about. It varies from blog to blog how often you get content to read. Also life can get in the way with health, family and life in general. The beauty of sites like this is you can write content when you think of something and just schedule it to be released on the day you want it dropped.

Why blog in the first place? There have been bloggers for a heck of a long time. You can see blogs about coffee to cats to just about anything. It is a good way to express ourselves, a way to let people know what is going on to getting your name out there just to name a few. Some just like writing stuff down regardless if their blog is being followed by a mass amount of people or just a few.

Regardless of the reason blogging can be fun, therapeutic and you get to meet some interesting characters along the way, That alone is worth the effort.

I’m an author and a reader: Are you?

When I hear writers tell me that they really not readers I am taken back. How you can be one without the other amazes me. I been an avid reader since gosh as long as I can remember. My husband and I have way too many books. Our move to our home now had a U-Haul that primarily had books in it.

So why are you writing in the first place and to who? And why should people read your book? And would you get offended if someone say to you that they don’t read?

I always have a book in my purse, car, by my bed, by my place in the living room and yes the bathroom but those are the funnies. Sadly life gets busy with family, health, the home and everything in between and being able to mark out time to read is not always there. That happened recently to me. It had been weeks since I had picked up a book. This past weekend I read two books, I made the time and plus the weather was crappy and I was not feeling well so was situated on the couch. But I did read and it felt so awesome. And not a digital book, which I get the reasons for that, but a real book in my hand. It was a glorious weekend to be reading. I have missed reading for pleasure hopefully it won’t be weeks before I do it again.

My home town library in Maine

My home town has a small library. Thanks to a grant that was approved they were able to build a second room. It is nothing fancy but it is amazing for a number of reasons. First it is run by two sisters who happen to both be nuns. Another the history of the Acadians is there for us to look over. My family on both sides are such.

I have given a copy of each of my books to them and will continue to do so to do my part in helping them out. Walking into the library a few weeks ago I came across the stand that houses my novels, along with the feather of Jasper and his bio that I included as a package. The sisters had sent me a picture of it which thrilled me but to see it in person gave me some satisfaction that I was helping out.

Growing up the only library I had access to was the one at school and the times were limited for us to go explore. I love libraries, I am at mine so often that the staff thinks I work there or should. The many things they offer, all free, is diverse and finding something to do there is easy. I am thrilled that now my home town has one and that it is growing and run by a board of dedicated people.

Who knows what is in store for them and what I will find next time I am home. I am excited for them and the community for what is to come.
